Rio Espiritu Santo, Rio Grande Nature Reserve

This river reserve flows from the Caribbean National Rain Forest and is considered the arm of El Yunque.  We launch into the river at the terrestrial zone where the fresh water meets the salt.  Paddling down river to the ocean at Bahia Beach. This slow moving river takes you through some of the oldest stands of red mangroves on the island.  On the way down and back your Eco-guide will explain the rivers Eco-system, and point out the abundant animal life inhabiting the mangrove estuary.  Once at the beach you will have time enjoy one of Puerto Rico's hidden beaches. Eat lunch, swim, and or beach comb before heading back up the river.
